Designing, Development and
Implementation of Statistical Computing Modules
From the outcome of the sensitization workshops, the following activities would
be undertaken at the
Lead
Center
at IASRI,
New Delhi
.
Designing and Development
• Preparation of the final SRS document by utilization of the present status of the
system and the suggestions that may accrue from the orientation training
programmes.
•
Design the training modules along with instructional material.
• Preparation of exercises from different disciplines
for illustration purposes.
• Implementation of the high end statistical computing
services in SSSC.
• Preparation of Reference Manuals and other reports.
Implementation
After finalization, the high end Statistical Computing
facilities would be available at IASRI,
New Delhi
and other Statistical Computing Hubs. For purchase of software, a committee would
be appointed. The committee would comprise of scientists and technical experts from
NAIP, IASRI and other Institutions. The committee would negotiate the licensing
policy with the vendors and also the cost of add-ons. It would also negotiate the
cost of the software. The software
would be made available to organizations at the negotiated cost. IASRI or the project
will be felicitator and the licenses will be in the name of the respective institutes
or ICAR. It would be the responsibility of the respective vendors to deliver and
install their software at various hubs and also to train the scientists from various
SAUs and ICAR institutes belonging to a particular hub to install the software at
their respective organizations. For any modifications or updates of software, vendors
will provide all technical support.
On implementation of Statistical Computing Services, the Statistical Computing Hubs
will become operational and the conduct of training programmes will be a continuous
phenomenon.
There will be two different sets of training programmes; one exclusively for the
trainers and another for scientists of different research organizations and state
agricultural universities. The vendor will conduct a 30 days training programme
at each of the statistical computing hubs. The training programmes for trainers
will also be conducted at the lead centre. In total there will be 4 training programmes
for the trainers and a total of 91 training programmes for researchers. There will
be 20 participants in each training programme. A total of 1900 people will be trained
from all the hubs during the period of the project.
The number of training programmes to be organized by each centre is given
in the following Table.
